Tyre Graveyard

Art really can come from the most unexpected places. Yes, that may just sound like we’re trying to be “modern” (or even post-modern?) but there is an element of truth – just take a look at these shots of a scrapyard in California.

The works themselves come from Edward Burtynsky, who has also done collections on oil and mining (both of which are worth checking out) – making him something of a climate campaigner. Of course, these works are slightly unnerving. That’s a lot of wasted tyres, and given that this is just one random scrapyard, it doesn’t bear thinking about on a worldwide scale… Still, since they’re there, might as well try and get something out of them…
