Eyafallajokull is of course the Icelandic volcano which is currently covering most of Europe in ash, making it impossible for planes to fly in or out of any country north of the Mediterranean. This is annoying really quite a lot of people who want to go on holiday, and it may well start to have implications for imports – especially food. However, we think we’ve found the silver lining in a set of truly beautiful photos.
Apparently the lightning is actually generated by some kind of electrical discharge within the ash column, which is slightly scary, but the results are stunning – from a distance.
So, for anyone upset or annoyed by this whole business, at least its given the rest of us some pretty photos to look at.
