When we hark back to our school days (last week), one memory that will forever remain with us is sitting around, repeatedly trying to sharpen broken pencils. The thing is, the lead just never seemed strong enough to stay put for more than about five minutes.
Which is why we have ultimate admiration for sculptor Dalton Ghetti.
Ghetti creates tiny sculptures out of the leads of individual pencils. He uses just a razor, a needle and a small knife to create incredible detail.
Each one takes hours to create, and the tiny sculptures apparently break frequently during the process, making the whole thing incredibly precise and painstaking.
We are in awe of the results, but have to wonder whether its really worth it. These things look impressive in photos but really are absolutely tiny. Still, they say small is beautiful…
